About EpicBattleAxe.com
So after establishing myself within the game industry as a writer, producer, and host, I decided that it would be fun to offer something different...To look at what it is that gamers really want and figure out a way to give that to them. With the internet as the platform, I decided that if you're going to start a website meant to be enjoyed by gamers, you have to have a few key components. Style, information, and a distinct vibe to help differentiate your brand from the rest were tops on my list. I knew I wanted to deliver a platform to discuss gaming and all of the issues within, but wasn't positive on what that platform should be.
Considering the audience and being a life-long gamer myself, I knew that gamers would latch onto something they could identify with. With all of the information out there, I thought it would be fun to give our audience a fictitious vehicle in which they could digest the content we provide and ultimately provide content of their own. Thus, I came up with the idea of the "EpicBattleAxe"...a tool used to "Cut through the crap" and deliver the "Real deal on the gaming industry". Toss in some heavy metal inspiration and then some blood, sweat, and tears and you have EpicBattleAxe.com...A website dedicated to providing top notch commentary on the gaming industry while giving visitors the ability to see what's happening within gaming at any given moment.
In late 2009 the concept behind the site shifted slightly as I realized that it is more beneficial to gamers to have LOTS of news to choose from instead of just EBA news. Now, a lot of people see EBA news since we provide the news feed on GameTrailers.com and some other places, but after a year of operations, I began to once again consider the audience and what THEY WANT out of a website. My feeling is that gamers who research game news or check in on what's happening daily could benefit from a central source designed to give them a bird's eye view of what's happening at any given moment. Sites like GameTab already provide this, but do so as if they were designed for programmers. What if you make researching, reading, and reacting to daily game news FUN! Whoa...there's a notion!!!
And so, the goal of EpicBattleAxe.com is simple. Entertain and inform gamers while having an enormous amount of fun. I love this industry and I care about what happens to it. I hope EpicBattleAxe.com impacts gamers and game makers alike on our quest to "cut through the crap".
