About GameTrailers.com
Back in 2004 I was a graphic artist working as production manager for a newspaper while running a gaming publication of my own. It was fun, but I knew I wanted to do more to impact the realm of gaming and so I took the advice of some close friends and focused my efforts online instead of in print. I began contributing to anyone and everyone that would accept my work in an effort to get my name out there. Fortunately, I came across some sites that needed contributors of the "Free"lance variety and so I dedicated my time to making relevant, valuable contributions in addition to maintaining my paying gigs.
One of these sites was called "Gamerfeed" and after a few months onboard, the site was acquired by GameDAILY.com (GD). Through steady contributions and being fortunate to work alongside some great people, I managed to become a key component to GD's daily content offerings and when the up and coming website GameTrailers.com started looking for news feeds to flesh out their site, GD began fulfilling the need.
E3 2005 was a big show for GameTrailers.com and they needed some "informed journalists" to assist in asking off camera questions to developers during the event. Through the already established news giving relationship with GD, my name came up and I was offered the opportunity to do this for three days during the show. I met with the GT people, took to the floor, and conducted interviews throughout the event. It was a huge success for everyone involved and immediately following that E3 I was brought onboard at GameTrailers.com to help develop content and host event coverage from around the globe.
The next few months would be a whirlwind of travel, filming, and progressive growth. I wrote and hosted a new show called GT Weekly starring me and Amanda Mackay. The show along with GT's commitment providing quality gaming media helped the brand take off and shortly thereafter the brand was acquired by MTV Networks. We started another show (GameONE) and began providing segments to our MTVN affiliate SPIKE TV on the show Game Head. Soon, the two shows would converge and form GameTrailers TV where Geoff Keighley, Amanda and I provide weekly insight into the gaming industry along with tons of world exclusive footage and big reveals.
I truly love my job and have been fortunate enough to travel the world to film in locations such as Leipzig, Tokyo, Croatia, Amsterdam, Paris, Hawaii, and throughout the US and Canada. Along the way I've met some truly great people in the game industry, developed an even stronger respect for interactive entertainment, and interviewed such guests as Shigeru Miyamoto, Tiger Woods, Brett Favre, Elijah Wood.
It's great to be a part of something huge like GameTrailers/GameTrailers TV...especially since I've been a part of the growth ever since it was just a small group of guys with a vision and a dream.
